Android Auto is still a relatively new platform that Google is exploring, but their recent announcement that apps can now run on compatible cars that are synced with devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop is opening up some doors. One of the few apps that are immediately available for the platform and the compatible cars is TuneIn radio, one of the largest internet radio apps in the market. They are extremely excited to hit the road with the first few users of Android Auto.

In case you’re not familiar with the app yet, but you seem to be one of the first few people who’ll try Android Auto, TuneIn Radio has the largest collection of free sports, music, talk and news radio from around the world, with over 100,000 stations available. Now you can bring all those stations with you while driving, provided that your vehicle is compatible with Android Auto, and your connected device is running on Android 5.0 Lollipop already. The radio app will already come pre-installed on Android Auto, and you’ll have a large host of stations to choose from, whether you’re on your daily drive to school or work or when you’re in a road trip with friends.

Boone Spooner, Director for Mobile Product at TuneIn, made the announcement on their Tumblr page (how very “hip” of them!). However, not much details were available in the very short post, except to say that this will allow avid TuneIn listeners to bring their station of choice wherever they are.

The available apps on Android Auto are still very few, so having TuneIn Radio is already a big bonus, especially for music lovers. You can get the app through Android Auto in your car, together with your Android 5.0 phone and enhance it with compatible Pioneer head set units.
