If you’re of the generation that believes the Transformers animated TV series are way better than the movie franchise and that Michael Bay has effectively ruined your childhood, then a new game from Hasbro might just cheer you up. Transformers: Robots in Disguise is now available on Android and it will give you a shot of nostalgia and a preview of the upcoming animated series which will premiere in spring 2015.
The game’s universe doesn’t follow the cinematic world created (or destroyed) by the movie franchise, but instead belongs to the successful and critically acclaimed Transformers Prime series. Robots in Disguise is a sequel to that and follows not just the storyline but also the 3D characters rendered on hand-painted environments look. The new Android game will give you a preview of the storyline that the series will follow, which mainly centers on the beloved character of Bumblebee.
The game employs tag team gameplay, which when Bee is already tired from fighting a new breed of Decepticons, he can tag in his partner to continue doing battle. You get to unlock a lot of new Autobots and Decepticon characters as you go along the game. Even if you’re playing with familiar Transformers, you also get to customize them with weapons and boosts that you collect along the way. And of course one of the best things about these robots is when you get to, well, transform them into vehicles and just smash your enemies away into oblivion.
The game does not need Internet connection except for when you download it first and when you need to update it. And the best thing? It’s absolutely free with no in-app purchases at all, since it is after all a promotional game for an upcoming new series. You can download Transformers: Robots in Disguise from the Google Play Store.
