After adding productivity to our wrists via Android Wear last December, Todoist is updating the app by finally integrating it with Evernote, Github, and Gcal. Thanks to a new API that allows these anticipated integrations with three of the most popular productivity apps for Android today. These changes arrived  together with the new Developer Platform plus the introduction of Doist’s Global Developer Challenge. The latter is a special event where developers can enter their own Todoist integration ideas for a chance to win over $10,000 in prizes.

Todoist has been using an open source code which means any developer who understand coding and believe in the philosophy of Todoist can allow integrations and extensions with third parties. Instead of integrations from scratch, the Developer Platform now allows other developers to extend Todoist. Other apps like Sunrise Calendar, Google Drive, Dropbox, and IFTTT have already been integrated and we’re expecting more to follow.

This is already the sixth version of the Todoist API which is part of the Developer Platform. If you’re a developer, feel free to use the Todoist API to improve and extend your app with Todoist. You’ll notice some of the following enhancements:

• detailed JSON error for every failed command
• UUIDs as the default for temporary IDs and timestamps
• more consistent sync commands
• improved input validation mechanism
• one single API call called “sync”

The updated Todoist’s most notable improvements are Evernote, Google Calendar, and GitHub integrations. With GitHub, you can convert GitHub repositories into Todoist projects, as well as, turn issue into tasks. On Evernote, you can also convert notebooks into Todoist projects. For Google Calendar events, you can view them, see due dates, and make edits to Todoist tasks. When you complete tasks on these three apps, they will also be synchronizated in Todoist automatically.
