The latest update to TeamViewer’s Android Remote Control app doesn’t turn it into an actual remote control for your TV, as some would have hoped. But what it does is support Wake-On-Lan, which is supposedly one of the most requested features from their user base. It just goes to show what we’ve known all along that working now isn’t limited to a person chained to a desktop but being able to access stuff wherever you are, even if your computer is supposedly asleep.
The Remote Control app has allowed its users to securely connect with a remote computer through their mobile devices, but now it’s even going one step further. If your desktop or laptop has the Wake-On-LAN enabled and supported, then you’ll still be able to control said computer even when it’s idle or offline by actually waking it up and therefore establishing a connection with the app and consequently your mobile device.
Aside from this support, there are also several other new features for the app, one of which is the ability to view files in full screen, without the system or navigation bar in plain sight. This would be good for when you need to present something to colleagues or clients. The app also now has an accelerated mouse pointer, support for SD cards, and if you feel like your connection is secure enough, you can do away with passwords with the Easy access feature.
You can update your TeamViewer for Remote Control app now to enjoy these features. If you haven’t yet discovered the joy of working remotely, you can download the app from the Google Play Store for free.
