Finally, T-Mobile will disclose more accurate mobile speed test for the benefit of the subscribers. The mobile carrier recently agreed with FCC to make sure results of speed tests done are real and true.
Accuracy is what people who can’t live without Internet connection want and a recent development will hopefully bring the correct information to subscribers who simply want the truth. Whether you like it or not, there may be times that mobile Internet speed gets slower than expected. What do you do usually? Check download speed but more often than not, you are shown results that aren’t true.
Usually, T-Mobile would just show you a picture of your mobile speed. It’s not really helpful because you need real information of what’s going on. This time, FCC and T-Mobile have worked together to ensure customers are getting the stuff they are paying for and are rightly informed of Internet speed.
FCC has posted a document pertaining to the issue. It wants T-Mobile to do a number of things including sending customers SMS once they hit monthly high-speed data allotment. FCC also requested that T-Mobile provide a special button or icon on smartphones linked to a speed test that will show reduced speeds.
T-Mobile has been asked to modify text messages it sends to customers once monthly high-speed data allotment is hit. The message should make it clear that some speed tests may show network speeds instead of the actual reduced speed. Information about the speed that will actually be available to customers once data cap is exceeded must also be included.
Aside from providing correct information through text, T-Mobile is also required to modify website disclosures to explain the policies about speed test applications better. This should also include data where consumers can obtain accurate speed information and how.
