More than a handful of user reports have confirmed T-Mobile is in the process of rolling out the Moto X Android 4.4.2 update. Those reports by themselves are enough for users to begin looking for the update notification, but at the same time we also like to see the official nod from the carrier. Or in this case, the official nod from Motorola, who has recently published the full changelog.
T-Mobile Moto X users will see the handset going from Android 4.4 to Android 4.4.2. Furthermore, once updated, the handset will be sitting as software version number 161.44.25. Unlike the main 4.4 Kit Kat update, there isn’t much that comes along with the bump to 4.4.2.
The changelog brings mention of three items and deals with printing, battery life and email sync delays.
- Printing documents and pictures: Added support for printing photos, Google Docs, GMail messages, and other content via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and hosted services like Google Cloud Print and HP ePrinters.
- Improved battery life: Fixed bugs which caused a small number of users to experience shorter battery life after upgrading to Android 4.4.
- Fixed email sync delays: Fixed a bug that could cause email services like Microsoft Exchange to experience intermittent delays in data synchronization.
If you are carrying a T-Mobile Moto X and have yet to get the update — you now have two options to consider. These include sitting back with some patience and waiting for the update notification to arrive, or taking the proactive approach and seeking it out.
We suspect many will opt for the latter so that being the case…you can grab your handset and navigate to Settings -> About phone -> System updates -> Check for system updates to try and get the process started. Assuming the update is ready for your particular device, it would just be a matter of following the prompts from this point forward.
