Earlier this month, AT&T’s LG G2 units got the long awaited update to finally get the much-praised “Knock Code” security feature that was initially rolled out with the G Pro 2 and gained its fame in this year’s LG flagship handset — the G3. It was only a matter of time before T-Mobile G2 owners get theirs as well, and today is that day when T-Mobile G2 owners will start to get OTA notifications for the D80120e update.
Apart from the Knock Code feature, T-Mobile has included a number of improvements into the firmware update, which already included battery life improvements via Android 4.4.2 Kitakat. The changelog also includes updates to Google Wallet, overall security fixes, including improvements to the handset’s Auto brightness, visual voicemail, and WiFi calling features.
If only for the Knock Code itself, this update should be a treat for G2 users. You can learn what it actually does in the video below, but suffice it to say that this feature has been one of the most talked about on any LG phone. The Knock Code gives you better and more convenient security, with over 80,000 possible combinations to secure your LG G2 smartphone.
If you own a T-Mobile G2, updating will be available in two ways – you can either wait for the OTA update notification which T-Mobile says will appear anytime from June 30 to August 4, and it will be as easy as following the prompts from there. Or you can check the source link which goes to the update page and download the update manually. The download file size is over 300MB, not too large and will just take a few minutes over a good wifi connection.

The Knock Code feature works great. However, the double tap “wake up” doesn’t work anymore. I read elsewhere that the double tap to wake up to the lock screen should work with Knock Code.
I had the same issue. It appears that you need a significantly longer delay between taps (~1 second) with this update. Frustrating.
It says if you turn knock code on double tap to wake phone wont work.
