We’ve always known Synology to come up with Network-attached Storage (NAS) devices like the DiskStations that allowed Chromecast streaming since last year. Earlier this month, we were introduced to the new RT1900ac router which comes complete with an Android control app.

This time, the company is rolling updates to several apps including the ‘DS download’ that allows you to efficiently manage downloads with an Android device. The latest version brings support for downloading tasks that actually require CAPTCHA passwords. For DiskStation Manager (DSM 6.0), the two-step verification is now supported to deliver added mobile security. And as usual, the update also brings several minor bug fixes.

Note that to run this app, you need your Synology NAS to have the latest Download Station 3.5. You can use it to view Download Station status, control key settings, and see individual task information. Inside the app, you can also use a browser to begin downloads. You can easily search for content inside by typing in keywords, as well as, integrate the app with Chrome.

Task management and RSS features include view and manage list of download tasks, selection of files within a torrent, BT search, select destination folders for downloads, search to find torrents, open external link of RSS feed, and the ability to create RSS downloads, as well as, update sources. With this new version of DS download, you can now create downloads from external browsers and bookmark pages in the built-in web-browser.
