If you want your Android smartphone’s home screen to look sexier, or rather, “hexier”, you’re in luck as the newest product coming out from the Swiftkey Greenhouse is an app launcher that would do just that. The Hexy Launcher is the latest from their “experimental” playground and it will basically arrange your apps on your home screen into, you guessed it, hexagonal tiles. App launchers are usually very useful, especially with the number of apps we constantly download, and this one gives you a unique look for your screen.
Swiftkey Greenhouse is where the virtual keyboard expands its reach by letting their developers experiment with apps and functions beyond just their original app. They first launched Clarity Keyboard a few weeks ago, and now, Hexy Launcher is here to put a hex, errr, we mean hexagon on your screen. They will be arranged in a “clean and color-coordinated” hexagonal shape. The ones in the center are the apps most relevant to you, based on your usage. But you can also filter the apps using the search bar, if you’re having a hard time seeing them quickly. If you want to add widgets, you can also do so and you can even size them dynamically.
Just like Clarity Keyboard, this app is not in its final stages yet and the developers are very open to feedback and suggestions. They also promised that they would be pushing updates to the app continually over the next few months.
You can download Hexy Launcher for free from the Google Play Store. You may also want to try out Clarity Keyboard, which is still in the beta phase, to also see how else they are “pushing the boundaries” of their industry, beyond just virtual keyboards.
