The Oppo R5s which was announced a few days ago is finally available in the United States and some parts of the world. The Android phone is now listed at $220 online but only for a limited time. You only have until tomorrow, August 27, Thursday, to avail of this special discount price of last year’s Oppo R5‘s latest sibling.
The phone impresses with its 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 5.2-inch 1080p display, octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 13 megapixel rear-facing camera, 5 megapixel front-facing cam with f/2.0 and 83 degree wide angle lens, and a 2000 mAh battery.
The discounted Oppo R5s is already unlocked so it’s quite a good deal. However, this one only runs ColorOS 2.0 based on the older Android 4.4 KitKat. It would have been nicer if it’s powered by ColorOS 2.1 and Android 5.0 Lollipop but maybe Oppo is just working on such software update especially the Android Marshmallow is arriving very soon. Another not-so-good news, this one doesn’t support 4G/LTE connectivity especially in the US so you might not get a lot of value for your money. Sorry but those on T-Mobile and AT&T can only take advantage of HSPA connectivity.
The new Oppo R5s measures 148.9×74.5×4.85mm and weighs 155 grams. It is very slim at only 4.85mm making it one of the slimmest smartphones today. The phone also features the standard sensors like: digital compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor, magnetic sensor, gravity sensor, light sensor, and dual microphone among others.
