At the recently-conlucded IFA 2015, Sony officially introduced not just the new flagship Xperia Z5 and its variants, but also that they will be producing Style Cover Window smartphone cases specially made for the new gadgets. Just like the previous cases for the Xperia Z3 and Z3+, these are custom made not just to protect your device but also to be able to use them to some extent, even while unopened.
There are three kinds of cases for the three variants introduced: Style Cover Window SCR42 for Xperia Z5, Style Cover Window SCR44 for Xperia Z5 Compact and Style Cover Window SCR46 for Xperia Z5 Premium. The basic colors are black, white, and tan, which also matches the three actual colors available for the smartphone. But there were also pictures of pink and green cases, so we might expect a few “louder’ colors too. They have IPX5/8 water resistance and 3H scratch resistance.
When your case is closed (literally), you will still be able to access a maximum of five apps and widgets, that is why it is called a “smart window”.When closed, that window measures around 2.12 x 2.12 inches for the Compact, and of course the Premium is the bigger one at 2.51 x 2.51 inches.
Since the Xperia devices are still not out in the market yet, then of course neither are these Style Cover Window cases. So we have to wait for November for both the device and the style cover windows. There is still no word as to how much it will cost, but it may probably be around the same price of the Xperia Z3’s which was around $50.
