Square Enix has been targeting NVIDIA’s game streaming service lately, the new NVIDIA GeForce Now service, and we see another new title being released as of today, playable on the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV console. “Murdered: Soul Suspect” is a rather ingenious and err, “spiritual” take on the mystery-slash-crime investigation game genre – a tale of a ghost detective wanting bring to light the truth about his own murder.

The story of Murdered: Soul Suspect revolves around the life and initial death of Detective Ronan O’Connor. While pursuing a serial killer, he was thrown out of a fourth story window by the so-called Bell Killer. He actually survives the fall, but the Bell Killer puts several bullets into his body to finish him off. O’Connor, now a spirit, cannot transition to the other side until he finishes unfinished business, to catch the Bell Killer.

Being a spirit actually makes the gameplay very memorable, as the world of the ether has advantages and disadvantages. If anything, it actually makes O’Connor a better detective. Players can walk through walls and wander around crime scenes unseen. Of course, he has to transition what he discovers to the living world, and that takes mastery of some very special skills the spirit detective has.

The game is rendered with great graphics, and you can take advantage of this via your powerful NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV console. The game is available to stream if you have an NVIDIA GeForce Now membership.

  1. I would say it’s more that Nvidia targeted Square rather than the reverse. Now, if we could get them to target Ubisoft. If the Shield and GeForce Now could deliver better performance for something like The Division, it would make an excellent case for Shield.

In fact, Nvidia recently made it so that The Witcher 3 runs at 1080/60, which means Shield is outperforming both PS4 and Xbox One for that game. That’s a feat someone should write an article about.
