Looks like we’re all getting a new Kingdom Hearts game from Square Enix, and this will be specifically for the North American market. The game will be called “Kingdom Hearts Unchained X” and it will be released for Android (and iOS) devices on April 7, 2016. This new game’s storyline will bring gamers to the beginning of the Kingdom Hearts timeline, and will tell the story of the Foretellers and the original Keyblade Wielders.
Kingdom Hearts Unchained X brings a prequel story that has not been explored before in the Kingdom Hearts series. The story takes place in the world of fairy tales that is usually mentioned in the past games within the series. The assumption is, there are many different keyblade wielders in the world, and the player of this new game gets to be one of them.
When asked what aspect of this new Kingdom Hearts game will appeal most to fans, director of the Kingdom Hearts series Tetsuya Nomura said that Unchained X’s sense of playing a live game – where players communicate, cooperate, and occasionally compete with others, will be very different from past games in the series and should give the new game a bit of novelty.
The game will be released in a few days’ time, so we will all know what it’s all about pretty soon. No information on the pricing yet, but given Square Enix’s history, expect to pay a premium for this game, together with included in-app purchases.
