This isn’t the first time Sprint’s deadline hasn’t been met when rolling out an Android OS update, or the second, or third… Nevertheless, it has happened again with the Epic 4G. Android 2.2 Froyo was due December 26 according to a leaked Sprint internal memo, but now has no time of arrival in sight until further notice from Sprint (or at least until another leak).
Sprint must have pulled the update for any number of reasons, but one is for sure: It is not ready. Rolling out the update without all the kinks worked out would be pointless. The same incident happened with Sprint’s HTC Hero way back when; multiple updates were needed to fix the same MMS issues. We will hopefully see the update release around the end of January, but there are definitely no promises.
