Pixelbite Studios is based in Helsingborg, Sweden and is mostly known for futuristic racing games. They go in totally a different direction with this, their new project called “Space Marshals”. By design, it looks like a Western, but the storyline involves heavy sci-fi elements, and the gameplay is tactical shooting a la Metal Gear Solid. What do you get? A pretty enjoyable ride.
Pixelbite’s Reckless Racing series was a well-polished set of racing games, and so we were not expecting them to deviate from form. But out comes Space Marshals, still of very good quality in terms of content, and the graphics and visuals are gorgeous. The game follows the story of a “specialist” named Burton as he hunts down fugitives across galaxies after a prison break. The player then gets to decide how best to do this task.
There are quite a few loadouts available to players who play in different styles. Close quarter shooters can get with a shotgun and some body armor. Snipers will have high-powered rifles, and sneaky assassin types have their own tools as well. But there’s more than those three stereotypes. You can mix and match and experiment, using disguises, flashbangs, silencers, grenades, energy weapons, and so forth.
The fugitives themselves are not your usual run-of-the-mill criminals. Expect to find aliens and other monstrous creatures too. As a premium shooter, you pay USD$4.99 for the download (see source link below) – and happily, the game is without annoying IAPs.
