Samsung still has no official announcement about a new, upcoming phablet, but there have been so many “leaks” and rumors, that they may very well do so very soon. The latest place where users have spotted the supposedly new phablet, the Galaxy A8, is in South Korea, where a brochure (not sure if Samsung or some electronic store brochure though) has featured Samsung’s reported new device. The brochure does confirm some of the specs that we’ve been seeing in pictures and videos that have been making the rounds.
Just last week, a video of a “hands-on” with the newest device was leaked on the interwebs, with some even saying it came from TENAA, China’s certification agency. The brochure seemingly has also listed the specs of the Galaxy A8, confirming that it has a 5.7 (or 5.66 to be exact) display with a Super AMOLED 1080p resolution. It will have an octa-core processor, although it did not list the exact chipset. Previous leaks have said it will use the Snapdragon 615, with four Cortex A53 at 1.7GHz and another four at 1.0GHz.
The brochure image, which a user kindly snapped up (before the store recalls it), confirms that it may just very well be the thinnest smartphone to come from Samsung, measuring at 157.7mm x 76.7mm x 5.9mm (thickness, or rather, tinness). It also has a 16MP camera that will also have a f/1.9 aperture, similar to the current flagship, the Galaxy S6.
With these leaks becoming more frequent and looking more “official” everyday, we can probably expect an announcement soon about the Galaxy A8. Hopefully, this will be a mid-range phablet that can be affordable for those who want a bigger screened phone but think the Galaxy Note series is still too expensive.
