While 4K resolution is already a common thing in the field of television and film, it is yet unheard of when it comes to mobile devices. But a user-agent profile for the upcoming Sony Xperia Z5+ shows that it may very well be the first smartphone or phablet to sport the 4k resolution on that small a screen. Called the Sony E68XX (E6833, E6853 E6883), the handset and its variants may very well sport an unprecedented 2160 x 3480 resolution.
While the UAP may not be the final word on the specs of upcoming smartphones, having the devices there almost always confirms the rumors and leaks that go around. So this time, what it is saying about the Xperia Z5+ is that it will have a 4K Ultra HD display when it is released later this year. What it doesn’t say though is the screen size, which will determine the actual pixel density.
If it is 5.5 inches or bigger, it will have 801 PPI, which will most likely probably have some kind of effect on the performance of the smartphone and its battery life of course. The UAP also shows that the Xperia Z5+ will be running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, which will probably be similar to the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact.
Having 4K display and playing 4K resolution videos may seem like a great stretch for a mobile device, but Sony may very well pull it off. Their past devices have only had FHD 1080p resolution, although their Xperia Z4 Tablet does have a WQXGA 2560 x 1600 display. Let’s see if a 4K display will have adverse or good effects on mobile screens.
