If you’ve been wanting to get the Sony Xperia X Compact, a smaller sized but flagship feature carrying device, but didn’t want to be tied down to any carrier, then now is your chance to get one from your favorite online retailer (well, if it is your favorite). Amazon has announced that they’re now accepting pre-orders for the smartphone even before its official release on September 25. This unlocked version is available in three different colors, if you buy it from there.
If you want a review of what the Xperia X Compact is all about, it’s a smartphone announced a few weeks ago that carries a lot of the features of the flagship Xperia XZ, but it comes in a smaller and less expensive package. The 4.6-inch display only has a 720p resolution but that’s probably okay since the flagship only has 1080p anyway. It has Gorilla Glass 4 protection, so at least that’s something. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor and has 3GB RAM, so that should be pretty good for such a small device.
It has 32GB storage which can still be expanded through a microSD card. Battery wise, it has a 2700mAh one, just a couple of hundreds lower than the 2900mAh of the Xperia XZ. The 23MP camera is a doozy and has three “highly intelligent sensors”: predictive hybrid auto-focus, laser auto-focus, and rugby IC. If you’re taking videos, it has a steady shot, 5-axis stabilization feature that will help you get smoother action videos and steadier close-ups as well.
The Sony Xperia X Compact will be available by September 25, but you can already pre-order it, if you’re that excited. It will cost you $499.99 and is available in three colors: black, white, and blue.
