Counting the days until the IFA 2016 opens in Berlin, Germany and we are getting more excited to see what new smartphones will be unveiled. We have noted a few already and one of the brands we are watching this year is Sony. The Japanese electronics company has been struggling the past few months and we know 2016 is a make-and-break year, at least, for its mobile division.
More rumors will be heard and several leaks will be published just like the Xperia X Compaxt photo shared by @evleaks last week. That one was followed by a simple sighting of an Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact on Sony Mobile’s Czech website. We said that the XZ could be the XR we saw earlier.
Sony discontinued the Z line and replaced it with the X series. We know a few already: the Xperia XA, Xperia X, Xperia X Performance, and the Ultra Xperia XA. As for this Xperia X Compact, we did’t really think Sony would still carry the variant but several sources have pointed the Xperia X will have a smaller and lighter version in its Compact form.
A GFXBench listing tells us the following specs: 4.6-inch screen, 4GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 32GB built-in storage, 16MP read camera, 8MP front-facing cam, NFC, WiFi, Blueooth, and other basic sensors like proximity, GPS, accelerometer, heart rate, and gyroscope.
We don’t know if this Xperia XA Compact will appear together with the Xperia XZ.
