Sony has gone official at IFA 2014 with a pair of new wearable devices including the Smartband Talk SWR30 and the Smartwatch 3 SWR50. The Sony Smartwatch 3 SWR50 will come in black or lime colors with extra straps in pink or white available. It measures in at 36 x 10 x 51mm and weighs 105g at its heaviest. The processor is a 1.2GHz quad-core ARM A7 unit operating at 1.2GHz paired with 512MB of RAM.
The screen is a 1.6-inch Transflective TFT LCD with resolution of 320 x 320 and capacitive touch. Other hardware includes an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, vibrator, compass, gyro, GPS, and a power button.
Connectivity includes NFC, Bluetooth, and a microUSB port for charging. Compatibility is with devices running Android 4.3 or higher. Internal storage is 4GB of eMMC flash and power comes from a 420 mAh battery good for up to two days use. The SWR50 will sell for 229.99 EUR in Europe.
The Smartband Talk SWR30 will come in black, white, red, blue, pink, or lime colors and measures 47.5 x 22.3 x 9.5mm. Inside the wearable is an ARM Coretex-M4 32-bit processor. The screen is a 1.4-inch black and white e-paper unit with a resolution of 288 x 128 px and 192 dpi.
Sony gives the watch a volume key, menu key, accelerometer, altimeter, vibrator, speaker, microphone, and support for HD Voice. Other features include NFC, Bluetooth, and a microUSB port for charging. Android 4.4 KitKat or higher devices are compatible and the watch has Bluetooth 4.0 LE connectivity. Storage is 2MB of internal flash and power comes from a 70mAh internal battery good for up to three days use.
Pricing in Europe is 159.99 EUR with either the large or the small band.
