Sony has announced their latest headphones. In this case we are looking towards the MDR-ZX and MDR-EX series, which contain more than a handful of models in total. The ZX models are headband style, and the EX models are earbuds. And along with the different styles, and different models within these two ranges, Sony has them available in a variety of colors.
The tops of these new models is the MDR-ZX750B. These are Bluetooth wireless headphones that feature NFC pairing, a 40mm driver and are touted as being able to block up to 98 percent of ambient sound. This particular model also features a built-in microphone so you can swap between listening to music and talking on the phone. Sony estimates the battery life as being up to 13 hours of non-stop wireless listening with noise cancellation turned on.
The next model, also in the ZX series, is the MDR-ZX610AP. These also have a 40mm neodymium driver which, according to Sony, means you will be able to “hear every note with exceptional clarity and high sensitivity.” This model has a Smart Key mobile app available from the Play Store and also feature an in-line remote control with microphone. Last in the ZX series are the MDR-ZX310. These contain 30mm drivers, feature a ‘foldaway’ design and are said to be a “perfect choice for fuss-free everyday listening.”
Shifting over to the earbuds and we find the MDR-EX650AP, EX110, and EX15. The top of this bunch in terms of the earbud style are the EX650AP. These feature a 12mm EX driver which Sony says is “re-engineered for an even more comfortable fit while boosting sound quality.” These use solid brass for the housing, which while heavier than aluminum, should help to remove any unwanted vibrations. This model also features an in-line remote and microphone.
The remaining models, the MDR-EX110 and EX15 are said to be an “affordable step-up in sound quality from your digital music player’s bundled earbuds.” These models are available in a variety of colors, and they also have “AP” versions which include the in-line microphone and remote. The complete ZX and EX series of headphones and earbuds are expected to arrive beginning in April 2014.
