When you’re saving files on your mobile device, you would sometimes want to hide some things, for reasons that are entirely your own and we won’t judge. But sometimes, the encryption that your device offers is not that secure or you yourself may forget where the file is and which is which. The update to the Solid Explorer File Manager can help you with that, and also adds other features including fingerprint sensor support, day and night themes, and multi window support if you’re on Android N.
Actually, these features have already been out for the beta version of the app, but now, it’s rolling out to all other users. For the file encryption, you get different features for multiple files and single files. For the former, they are moved to a folder with the .sec extension, while the latter retain their file names and just have the .sec extension appended. The files and their names are encrypted using the AESS256 algorithm and can only be read within the app. But if you input the password, then you will be able to look through the files just like other regular browsers.
Smartphones and tablets that have fingerprint sensors will be able to use this to unlock the files, without having to input the password. You will also be able to access your cloud storage just by using your fingerprint. Whenever a situation arises where you can unlock or access it with the sensor, a checkbox will appear with the “use fingerprint” option. Other changes included in the update are a day and night theme option, creating home screen shortcuts through the launcher, multi window support for devices already on Android N, etc.
You can already update your Solid Explorer File Manager to the latest version, 2.2. Or if you don’t have it yet, download it for free from the Google Play Store.
