If you’re tired of seeing sci-fi scenarios that involve things like planets and suns go boom, then Solar Flux HD might offer a change in perspective. Step into the shoes of a savior as you navigate your little ship past obstacles in order to save the universe’ dying suns.

This unique and simple indie game puts you in the shoes of a hero with an impossible task: reigniting the dying giant balls of fire across the known universe. You navigate a nondescript circular space ship to collect bits and pieces of light that you then shoot back out into the sun in order to keep it alive. It won’t be easy though, as space’s natural obstacles, asteroids of various shapes and sizes, innocently make your job to save the galaxy a lot harder.

Solar Flux HD combines elements of puzzle and strategy games with simple yet beautifully done graphics. Don’t be deceived by the simplicity of the appearance or the premise, as the ship can’t be controlled directly but only through a series of tap and hold gestures, letting the game’s rudimentary physics system do the rest. Players get access to 80 levels, each naturally harder than the previous ones. And, of course, there are traces of social networking via leaderboards and boasting on Facebook. Here’s a short trailer of the game showing the various stages and hurdles available.

Solar Flux HD is available on Google Play Store with a small price tag of $1.99. But those who want to test out the game first can download Solar Flux Pocket for free.
