On the heels of rival Instagram’s quest to make itself more Snapchatty with their new Stories feature, the king/queen of the “putting stickers and weird filters” world, Snapchat, has come up with another new feature to make your photos and messages even more personalized and localized. Geostickers is now available in select cities and both highlights and makes fun of some certain landmarks or features of that area. The location-based overlays should not be confused with the Geofilters as they are a bit different of course.

First of all, the Geostickers don’t actually mention the place from where it comes from, but is instead represented by caricatures or drawings of famous landmarks in that area or local trends that are presented in a mocking fashion. You can also move it around your snap just like you would other stickers, unlike the Geofilter which are just placed in a specific area of the photo or video.

Snapchat’s geo location specific features has been pretty useful not just for ordinary users that like to tell other people on social media where they are but also for brands as you can use the platform to promote your businesses in nearby areas, but also find creative ways to do so.

Geostickers are available in Honolulu, London, Los Angeles, New York City, Washington, DC, Riyadh, San Francisco, São Paulo, Sydney, and Paris. Each area has several stickers available, including the 15 created specifically for San Francisco. They’re not yet sue which cities or countries they’ll be adding to next.
