No, Skyward is not your favorite ship on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, but rather a new Android arcade game that seems simple at first glance, and maybe a few levels in, but gets pretty difficult as it progresses (as all games should right?). It’s one of the more interesting one-tap games around, drawing similarities to Monument Valley, but with a charm all its own.
In fact, Skyward is not at all similar to Monument Valley, except that they’re both minimalist and gorgeous-looking. The goal of the game is to keep a spinning disc from biting the dust by making it land on a solid area, which will make you progress to the next level. When the disc stops, you get a new spinning one and you have to do the same. Oh, and you get to “save” the spinning disc with just one tap. Sounds simple enough yes? Well, of course, at first, it is, but as the game goes on, the disc becomes smaller with each rotation and so it gets more difficult.
The developer claims that you will “reach your inner peace” through the game’s one-tap-one-step game. Well, we’re not sure if you really can though, because you will probably get frustrated everytime a disc will fall into oblivion as you fail to keep it grounded, so to speak. But the Escher-style labyrinths and the gameplay will definitely keep you interested, if you go for that kind of thing.
You can download Skyward for free from the Google Play Store. There are no in-app purchases available, so no need to worry for your credit card.
How is it not similar to Monument Valley? The whole concept is a rip off. The design, the animations, the ‘feeling’ and also the relaxing melody.
