We’ve seen man caves, bachelor pads, and now, even “she sheds”. But for introverts who love a small but highly functional and comfortable place, this new “invention” by Kiwi plastic engineer and graphic designer Jono Williams may just be a dream come true. Called the Skysphere, the floating room is not just pretty and innovative, but it is also very eco-friendly and digital, as it is solar-powered and can be controlled through an Android smartphone or tablet.

The entire “treehouse” (which might be the most expensive treehouse as of now) is 2 meters high and has a circumference of 14m, which means it also has a killer view as it has been built on a hill surrounded by trees in New Zealand. The solar panels are built on top of the structure and can power the entire room for 2 days, so it should be enough for a weekend getaway.

The lighting and security system can actually be controlled on an Android smartphone as it created based on an device connected to an IOIO development board. The Skysphere is also equipped with other appliances and devices, like an in-couch beer dispenser, Miracast projector, a wireless sound system, dimmable colored mood LED lighting, computer generated voice dialogue for the controls, and of course, high speed Internet.

It took Williams around 3 years to build his dream space, but he did not indicate how much he actually spent on it. Given the chance to live in something like the Skysphere, would you do so, even as just a weekend getaway? Given the description and the pictures, we definitely would.
