You know that a messaging app is really becoming competitive when the updates just keep on coming. And while the market is dominated by Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, LINE, etc, Skype isn’t giving up anytime soon. We’ve been seeing a lot of updates from the Microsoft-owned messaging app for the past months, sometimes biweekly, and now, they’re bringing version 6.11 to Android users, making managing conversations and sharing special moments easier.
With the new version of the app, you will now find it easier to manage the conversations you’re having, especially if you have a lot going on. Just long press the conversation, and a toolbar will come up with options to delete, mute notifications or mark as read. This makes it easier to either let go of the ones you don’t need, silence the ones that are too active for your peace of mind, or just remove that annoying unread counter on your app. Skype also now allows you to save video messages so that you can keep the important ones that are worth saving.
When it comes to sharing pictures and videos, you can now directly share from your photo gallery onto an ongoing Skype conversation. If you want to share something from your group to another group, you also now have an option to do so. Even Mojis can now be shared with a contact or even without a group. It will not play automatically but just play when you tap it. Search is also now enhanced, as words from your conversations will now be included in the search result as well.
You can update your Skype for Android app now if the rollout has reached you already. If you haven’t succumbed to Skype yet, maybe now is the time to do so. You can download it from the Google Play Station for free of course.
