Have you ever looked at a picture, which either you took or someone else did, and thought to yourself, “Darn, that would have been a great photo 2 seconds before it was taken”? Well, one of the more popular camera apps available for Android devices has just released version 3 and so now Camera MX gives you the ability to “shoot the past”, or more specifically three seconds before you released the “shutter” of your mobile device.

The camera app has also been redesigned, giving users more tools and features to take better looking photos. But probably the most stand-out new feature is the Shoot the Past” mode wherein you can go “back in time” up to 3 seconds before you actually took the picture. You can relieve and save those missed shots if they’re so much better than the real photo. This is an ideal mode for when taking fireworks or getting your baby to pose for the family picture.

Photo and video editing capabilities is now a must have for any honest to goodness camera app, since we’re not satisfied anymore with our built-in cameras or even just Instagram. You now have a more user-friendly interface for Camera MX so that the options (brightness, photo rotation, etc) and free Live filters (HDR, Lomo, overlays, textures, etc) will be much easier to handle now. Even the videos can also be extensively edited and filtered as well.

The update has rolled out to almost all the app users. If you haven’t yet discovered the joys of Camera MX, better download it now for free from the Google Play Store.
