There are a lot of portable Bluetooth speakers available in the market but there are only a few that can be considered safe and rugged enough for rough use like biking. Sure, there are headphones available but admit it, they’re not as comfy and safe to use. The idea when cycling is to have some music playing in the background (or foreground). Music doesn’t need to be loud because it can be dangerous. You need to hear the pedestrians and other vehicles near you.
Scosche has just introduced a new Bluetooth wireless speaker called the BoomBottle+. It looks like a cool water bottle but it’s actually a cylindrical speaker that can be easily mounted to your bike or bring just about anywhere.
The BoomBottle+ can slides into any bottle cage in most bikes for storage. It’s Bluetooth-compatible so it can play or stream music from your smartphone. Scosche is known for more sports-related accessories. In the past, we’ve seen the SCOSCHE freeKEY Flexible Water Resistant Roll Up Keyboard, soundKASE Sport Armband, and that reVOLT 12W + 12W 4.8A Dual USB Car Charger.
The BoomBottle+ is definitely better than the original version with its impressive 6000 mAh battery that can last up to 15 hours of non-stop audio playback. You can pair this with another BoomBottle+ unit to achieve an even louder and better sound quality.
The Scosche BoomBottle+ is obviously dust- and water-resistant because of the IP67 rating. It can withstand rough use, thanks to the TPU exterior that can handle bumps. Those mud that can get on the speaker? Just rinse ’em off and you’re good to go for another round of trip down or up the hill or your favorite bike trail.
Scosche BoomBottle+ is now ready for pre-order. You can choose from among these color variants: Black/Space Gray, Black/Gold, or Sport Blue. Price tag reads $180.
