I bet most of you will jump up at any offer that starts with “suppose I gave you control of multiple satellites…” because I know I will. Satellite Command is a new space simulation game app that does exactly that, and it won’t be ugly to look at either, being made with Unreal Engine 4.

The main premise for Satellite Command is this – players will be given control over their own communications agency and all the satellites that said outfit owns which happen to be in low Earth orbit already. The game will ask you to manage resources — running the company and all of its satellites, while trying to complete tasks and missions. Completing missions will give you access to rewards and materials that you can to upgrade your satellites.

The game throws a number of curve balls – first, there are rogue-like elements in game that makes sure the game will be different each time you play it. Secondly, the game has a perma-death feature. It doesn’t sound nice, but it makes sure you learn your trade by actually doing things right because when a satellite dies, it won’t respawn. When you mismanage your resources, there are consequences – you yo make darned sure your satellites don’t crash into anything out there.

Pretty interesting, eh? Satellite Command sounds like a premium game, and it is that, price-wise. You need to pony up USD$4.99 to play the game, but it is a one-time cost. There are no IAPs in the game whatsoever. The game is currently supported on tablets only, so you’ve got to have a robust tablet around to play the game on. A “lite” edition for mobile is coming soon.
