We had been expecting Samsung to show a Tizen powered smartphone during Mobile World Congress, however specifics for any of the devices have remained mostly rumor and mystery. Well, while we have yet to see anything official from Samsung, a recent leak is offering a look at the Z9000 Zeq smartphone. The Z9000 may be running Tizen instead of Android, however as you’ll notice in the included image, it does bear some resemblance to the Galaxy S 4.
A full set of specs have yet to leak, however there are some details that have come along with the rendered image, which comes courtesy of MovePlayer. The Samsung Z9000 Zeq is expected to have a 4.8-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720. There was also mention of the handset sporting a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.
Measurements for the handset show it at 136.1 x 69.1 mm, which has it being slightly smaller than the Galaxy S 4. For now this is still falling firmly in the rumor category, however the Zeq name does come from an earlier application from Samsung. That was filed back in August and carried an application number of 4020130057713.
Basically, we are now looking towards Mobile World Congress, which takes place in Barcelona close to the end of February. Otherwise, based on earlier mentions of Tizen, we aren’t necessarily expecting Samsung to have a full announcement including prices, release dates and carrier details. Instead, the earlier promise from Samsung was about how they plan to show “an exclusive sneak preview of the newest Tizen devices.”
HD resolution? Oh, god, why…
