What use is a smart TV app when the number of devices it supports, both the smartphone/tablet and the smart TV, is fairly limited? This is probably what Samsung figured out and so now they are updating and relaunching a new Smart View app which brings more devices into the fold, while combining the connection reliability of earlier versions so users can easily share their content from their mobile device onto a larger screen like a smart TV.

Previously, the app was designed mostly for Galaxy devices and enable them to throw their content from their smartphones and tablets onto their Samsung Smart TV. But now the app has been updated to include other platforms like Android so that a wider range of users will be able to bring their photos, videos, music, and other content onto a larger screen. Even the supported Samsung Smart TVs have also been expanded, and now includes 2011 models up to the current one. The upcoming 2016 models will also of course be supported by the app.

To be able to connect your device to the Smart TV though the app, you both have to be on the same wireless network of course. From your mobile device, simply choose which TV you want to connect to. The user interface is pretty simple, and so it can seamlessly transfer the content you want to view or listen to on the smart TV. You can also use other apps on your device and it won’t affect the sharing function.

You will also be able to create playlists for your music, video, and photos and easily switch from any of these file types. You can download the Samsung Smart View app from the Google Play Store for free.
