As if rollercoasters weren’t exciting/scary/stressful enough, we now have the technology to make it even more awesome. Six Flags Entertainment is teaming up with Samsung, its official technology partner, to bring the first virtual reality roller coaster experience in North America. Of course riders will have to use the Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus. VR is probably the perfect enhancement for thrilling rides, and since 2016 has been declared the year of virtual reality, we’re not surprised that this is the next thing in entertainment parks.

Nine of the Six Flag parks will have roller coasters that will let riders experience a 360-degree virtual reality world if they have their Samsung Gear VR. The gyros, accelerometers, and proximity sensors will let you all the more feel the twists, loops, and turns of the coaster, as if the actual physical experience wasn’t enough to get your adrenaline pumping.

The VR Roller Coasters will be launched this month already and well into the summer when Six Flags reaches peak visitors. There will be six New Revolution Virtual Reality Coasters, where you will engage in a battle to save your planet from alien invaders. There will also be three Superman Virtual Reality Coasters where a seemingly innocent and fun tour of Metropolis turns into an all-out battle between the Son of Krypton and criminal mastermind Lex Luthor.

The Samsung Gear VR headset works with the OEMs newest devices, including the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+ and Note5. Because of the AMOLED display on these devices, you will experience all the elements (color, clarity, performance) that will make the VR experience on the roller coaster unforgettable.
