With the many available tracking apps, gadgets, and services that are out there, we won’t run out of options when it comes to trying (key word is trying) to keep fit and stay healthy. If you’re using a Samsung smartphone, then you most likely want to use the S Health app to be a central dashboard of all your health and activity related data. However, it lacks integration with a lot of the leading services like Fitbit, Jawbone, etc.

But apparently, since last May, they have very quietly added support for at least 6 of these activity tracking services. We have no idea why they wouldn’t actually announce something like this, but at least now we know that the integration is there ready to be activated. It is not located in the Partner Apps section of the settings, but is instead buried in More > Settings > Connected Services. The 6 new services that you can be connected to are: Fitbit, Jawbone, Microsoft Health, Misfit, Runkeeper, and Strava.

Four of them share data for both exercise and sleep but Fitbit only shares sleep while Strava only does exercise. Apparently this has been available since version 4.8.0 which came out last May 27 and even has a follow up update 4.8.1 which came out a few days ago. But they did not make any announcement nor did they include it in their changelog. It’s only due to some eagle eyes from online news sites that we were able to find out the existence of this integration.

So if you use any of those activity tracking services and you have an updated Samsung S Health app, try and see if it’s actually working. At least, you’ll have a central dashboard already for all your health and fitness activities.
