If you’ve been using Samsung Pay as your mobile payment gateway or if you’re planning to start using it anytime now, there’s a bit of good news for you. Well, updates are always good news right? Version 2.3 of the app is now available for download and aside from the the fact that you can get more gift cards and that more membership cards are supported by it, you also get iris scanner support and cloud sync so you don’t need to input all your details every time you would change your device.
The cloud sync options is a pretty important feature for any app to have, given that we tend to change our devices often or even just the act of logging out and logging in causes us to lose data. So with this update, you will be able to restore all your membership, gift, and Samsung Rewards cards when you sign back in to the service. But of course, your payment cards will not be synced, as that would be too not secure.
As for the iris scanner support, of course it will only work for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. But given the recent issues of this phablet, then not many people will find this feature useful, unless they’ve already exchanged their units for the “safe” version of the Note 7. The additional gift and membership cards are technically not part of the update since it is a side-server change.
The update has rolled out already so you can check your Samsung Pay page if it’s available already. Or you can also download the APK if you’re that excited.
