Samsung is pretty excited about launching their mobile payment gateway in the US and because of this, they will be embarking on a tour in seven of America’s “most vibrant and iconic cities”. So those who live in Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles will get a chance for special discounts, experience on-site activities, and basically just show them how awesome it would be if they used Samsung Pay to make their purchases.
Samsung has teamed up with local retailers to give discounts to people who will be dropping by the event and using their Samsung devices to pay for their purchases. The first stop of the tour was the Austin City Limits Music Festval where there was a Samsung Pay Block Party last October 1. The party will continue all throughout the weekend as they are the official mobile payment partner for the entire run of the music fest. If you have any of the compatible Samsung devices and you’re attending the music fest, you can use your smartphone to pay for food, drinks, and even souvenirs.
Every weekend after this one will then be spent in a new US city. But aside from the dates, no details yet as to what users can expect in their own city, except for the aforementioned discounted items from local retailers. There will also supposedly be chances for Samsung owners to unlock special offers and even win some prizes.
If you didn’t know it yet, Samsung Pay will work with any of the newest Galaxy devices, specifically Galaxy S6, S6 edge, Note5 and S6 edge+, and if your are a subscriber to any of these carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and U.S. Cellular. You also need to have a participating MasterCard, Visa or American Express card issued by Bank of America, Citi, American Express or U.S. Bank.
