As promised, Samsung Pay has come to Singapore. Next to South Korea, it is the first in Asia to offer the new mobile payment service. Samsung Pay first launched in its native country and soon was launched in the United States. We’ve been saying that the company would be expanding in six more countries and true enough, it’s also now available in Spain as the first market in Europe, in China, and soon in Brazil, Australia, and the UK.

Earlier today, Samsung Electronics Singapore announced that Samsung Pay will be available beginning on June 16. Mobile payments and cashless transactions with only your latest Samsung Galaxy phone will be fulfilled. No need to swipe your debit or credit card because a simple tap of your smartphone is enough. This is bringing the idea of cashless shopping to the next level.

Samsung Pay works on any contactless payment terminal as long as you have a compatible Samsung smartphone. There’s a limit though on the device ready for Samsung Pay as only the latest ones are allowed like the Galaxy S7, S7 edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and S6 edge+. We’re expecting the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 or Note 7 and the Galaxy S7 edge+ will be ready for Samsung Pay as well.

Samsung Pay is said to be a “safer, smarter, and a better mobile wallet”. The mobile payment service will have Samsung partnering with a lot of banks, financial institutions, stores, and establishments. It’s very convenient to use because you only need the phone to be near a payment terminal and your fingerprint to authenticate and authorize your account. In Singapore, Samsung has started to work with Singtel to strengthen the partnership and technology.
