If people tell you that you just can’t become a DJ without undergoing extensive training and buying expensive equipment, you’d probably want to show them Samsung’s newly-released app Soundcamp. Okay granted, you would need to learn how to create sick beats and that you should have at least a feel for rhythm and bass and sounds, but the app says it’s a quick study and you can also connect it with other 3rd party apps and accessories to create music that other people can dance to or just listen to.
Soundcamp is a combination of a digital audio workstation (DAW) and a MIDI sequencer that has a whole pre-loaded library of musical instruments that you can use, like guitars, keyboards, drums, etc. It even has an audio recorder with sound effects if you feel like adding your own. If you’ve already been using some other creator apps, Samsung is looking to build a whole eco-system so you can connect them to it. Right now, it has support for the Unique snythesizer, the WOW2 filter by Sugar Bytes, Phase84 phase synthesizer by Retronyms and iLectric Piano, and iGrand Piano by IK Multimedia.
Samsung has also added a sampler tool that will let users import, record, and manipulate parts of songs and even real-world sounds. A new added feature is called Looper and it will give you access to over 250 free, studio quality loops from Loopmasters’ sound library. You can then use these to create your own loops and add them to your musical creations.
If you have a Galaxy S6 edge+, S6 edge, S5, Note 5, Note 4, Note edge, Tab S2, S, and Galaxy View, you can download the Soundcamp app from the Google Play Store. There are some in-app purchases available, including paid loops if the free ones aren’t enough for you.
