Wearables are more than just functional nowadays. They also need to be fashionable, particularly since users have to wear them every day. We’ve seen a lot of traditional watchmakers get into the market and we’ve seen OEMs make more accessory-like smartwatches and fitness bands. Samsung is now launching a new lifestyle band that brings both functionality and “style” (or as much style as a band can bring) and it’s called Charm by Samsung. It will of course, attempt to charm you into parting with some cash to be able to wear this charming bracelet.

Claiming it looks “more like a piece of jewelry than an electronic device,” Samsung is expanding its line of wearables with this new line that looks like a minimalist but pretty accessory but acts like most wearables in the market. Together with the Samsung S Health and the Charm by Samsung apps, it will tell you the number of steps you’ve taken during the day, how many calories you’ve burned and how much distance you’ve covered, even if you just keep going up and down the stairs.

In terms of notifications, it has an LED display that will tell you if you have incoming calls or text messages from your connected smartphone. You can also choose on your Charm app which push notifications you want to receive from apps like Facebook, messaging apps, etc. You also get color-boded notifications that tell you about battery level, connectivity status, and charging level.

Charm has a built-in 17mAh battery which should last you up to 14 days in one full charge. It also has a built-in storage monitor so it can still keep your information even if your phone isn’t with you. It will be available in gold, black, and rose quartz colors but no price or availability details has been announced yet.
