We mentioned earlier how Samsung released the Tizen SDK for wearables. In this case those wearables include the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches. But in addition to news of the SDK being released, there was also a bit about the current selection of apps for both watches.
Samsung mentioned how they currently have “more than 100 unique partnerships.” That was followed by the list of apps, which at present has 23 entries from a mix of categories to include fitness, shopping, social media, music, news and sleep management. We aren’t exactly sure which category the first entry fits into, but were pleasantly surprised to see Atooma on the list.
We’ve played around with Atooma in the past, and have used it as one method to help improve battery life on a smartphone. For those unfamiliar, Atooma is able to automate things on your smartphone. The app follows a sort of ‘if something, do something’ approach.
“Atooma for Samsung Gear 2 lets you use simple wrist gestures to make things happen (Send a text, Put Silence Mode on if a meeting is approaching on your Google Calendar, Switch on or the Wifi, Gps, Bluetooth, Adjust brightness); or manage your Gear 2 picture sharing or storage automatically.”
The remaining apps that make up that list of 23 includes; Banjo, Dacadoo, EasilyDo, Feedly, Focus TRAINR, Glympse, iHeartRadio, iwunta (Cloudwear), Life 360, Runtastic, Sleep Genius, Spiritz, Strava, Vivino, CNN, Conde Nast, eBay, Expedia, Flick Dat, MapMyFitness (Under Armour), MyMusicCloud, and News Republic (Mobiles Republic).
Naturally, as Samsung has released an SDK, the assumption is how this list will only grow in time.
