When you have a device that’s not as popular as the flagship line or even the mid-tier line that your OEM is pushing, then chances are you’ll be receiving major updates really late or not at all. Fortunately for the owners of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo, it’s a case of the former. Finally, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is rolling out for the smartphone owners in Europe, although only the SM-G903F variant is receiving the update for now.
The Galaxy S5 Neo was released mid last year, but it never got the push that others in the Samsung line got, so it remained just one of those devices that a decent number of people owned. Now those users are being “rewarded” with a Marshmallow update. Users in Austria, Greece, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK have reportedly been receiving notifications of the update and other countries where that model is available will probably follow.
Once you’ve upgraded to Marshmallow, you’ll get the same features that those who went before you are now already exploring. This includes the Google Now On Tap, which will help you get the information you need while still in the app you’re currently in. You will also be able to save up on your device’s juice with the Doze battery saving feature. The new run time app permissions model will also come in handy.
You’ll have to wait for the notification of the update to reach your Galaxy S5 Neo, which may take a few day or weeks. But you can also manually check if the update is already available by going to your device’s settings.
