We weren’t expecting Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active but I guess since the Galaxy S4 model has gotten a taste of its sweetness, it’s rugged sibling should be getting it too. AT&T has started to release the Lollipop software update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active (SGH-I537) yesterday, April 21. As with most Android 5.0 updates, this one will ready for download via Firmware Over The Air (FOTA).
If you own a Galaxy S4 Active, make sure you have at least 1GB of free memory space before downloading the file. After the update, you can enjoy some of the new Android 5.0 Lollipop features and enhancements like a new user interface, more fluid motions, priority mode to set notifications you really need, battery saving features, and Smart Lock to secure phone or tablet. With this update, apps, photos, songs, and recent search on one Android device can now be accessed on other Android devices.
As usual, AT&T recommends you backup phone data and media files first before upgrading. It’s better to be safe than sorry. For easier backing up process, you can also use Samsung Kies which will soon be replaced by Smart Switch.
The over-the-air notification should be received anytime soon but if you cannot wait, you can always do it manually. To check if software update is ready for download, go to your phone’s Home screen, choose Menu, click on Settings. Tap on the More tab and then About device. Click on Software update to check for updates. If file is ready, choose OK to start download.
