Samsung has officially launched the Samsung Galaxy S II, the 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus sequel to 2010’s best-selling Galaxy S. The WVGA smartphone runs a 1GHz dual-core processor with an 8-megapixel, Full HD video capable camera and NFC support, but still manages to be 8.49mm thick at its thinnest point.
There’s also NFC, WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0+HS and HSPA+ support, while the OS is Android 2.4 Honeycomb. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but the Samsung Galaxy S II is expected to go on sale in Q2 2011, perhaps as early as April. We’ve also separately confirmed that Vodafone will be ranging the device. Standby for hands-on and video!
Android 2.4 is Honeycomb now?
2.4 honeycomb? Excuse me? Is that a typo?
What?! 2.4?! And wasnt it supposed to be launched this month?
Guys, give them a break. It’s 2.4 Gingerbread, everyone makes mistakes.
I think you mean 2.3 gingerbread
2.3, 2.4 will share gingerbread. 2.4 just give single core phones support for dual core apps. 3.1 will be ice cream or w.e
it isnt gingerbread its ice-cream! and it intergrate with honeycomb
I am getting confused. I thought Honeycomb was to be 3.0. What is Anroid 2.4?
Android 2.4 is the dual-core version of 2.3, and both are called Gingerbread. As Google has said, the 3.X fork is for tablets, and the 2.X fork is for phones.
