A year has passed since we saw Samsung announce the Galaxy Core. And as the often followed timeline suggests, it should almost be time for Samsung to announce the follow-up device. Sure, we’ve already seen some different variants such as the Plus, Advance and LTE models, but today we are talking about the Galaxy Core 2.

It seems some images and specs have recently surfaced. As you’ll see from the image here in the post, the Galaxy Core 2 takes the style of the Galaxy S5. But despite the looks being similar — the handset isn’t on the same level in terms of the specs. Instead the Galaxy Core 2 is more a low to mid-level device.

The rumors suggest the handset will debut with a 4.5-inch display and a resolution of 800 x 480. Other specs are said to include a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD memory card slot and 2000 mAh battery. The camera setup will include a VGA quality on the front and a 5MP on the backside.

Measurements come in at 129.7 x 67.9 x 9.8mm with a weight of 138 grams. Keeping with the May timeline, Hi-Tech.mail.ru has said the expected release date is May 20th. Availability is then expected to begin in Russia with the handset priced at 9990 rubles. And for those looking for the dollar translation — that would be roughly $280 in US.

  1. 512MB? That doesn’t sound right considering that its predecessor had twice that amount, it would be a pointless downgrade.

  2. android phones requires atleast 1GB of RAM orelse it will hang every now and then and also big games wont run smoothly. So buying an Android phone with 512MB RAM is a waste of money
