Now that almost all the Android flagships have already been updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it’s now the turn of the “others”. Everyday we get news about which smartphone or tablet is finally getting the upgrade, and today, it’s the turn of the Samsung Galaxy A8, well at least, to the ones that are in India. There is no news yet when the other regions will get it, but it’s probably not that far behind.
Just like with the other Marshmallow updates, you need to make space in your device, storage-wise and memory-wise. The file is at a hefty 1112.27MB and so you need to be able to have enough space to spare even after you’ve installed it. You would also need a stable WiFi connection, as there’s nothing more irritating than having 80% of your installation done and then your connection peters out and you may have to start all over again.
The update brings all the Marshmallow goodies you’ve been reading about, like Google Now On Tap so you wouldn’t have to switch apps to get the information you need, Doze mode so you can save up on your battery life, and granular permissions and better notifications. The changelog didn’t indicate any other changes aside from the usual.
You can wait for the over-the-air notification for when the update will finally roll out to you (if you’re in India). But you can also manually check it on your settings or using your Samsung PC companion software.
