After sales of some earlier models of the Galaxy line of smartphones were less than expected, Samsung has a different problem on its hands with the Galaxy S6 smartphone. Samsung is having trouble keeping up with demand for the Galaxy S6 devices.
Samsung has issued a statement that demand is much higher than it expected for the smartphones. Since the demand is higher, there likely won’t be enough devices to go around making it hard for consumers that want one of the smartphones to get their hands on it.
While saying demand is higher than expected, Samsung hasn’t said just how many of the Galaxy S6 devices it has sold. Reports indicated that for the opening weekend of sales, there were 20 million pre-orders for the smartphone.
Another report indicated that Samsung planned to ship 10 million S6 and S6 Edge devices in the 26 days after the global launch. If those reports are accurate, the demand is much higher for the new devices than it was for previous Galaxy S models. It’s unlikely that Samsung will offer official sales numbers for the S6 and the S6 Edge, but it certainly seems Samsung has a hit on its hands.
