Monitoring your activities, watching the things you consume, checking up on your fitness goals: these things used to be done only by disciplined people, writing compulsively in their little notebooks, or for the more organized ones, making excel sheets and charts just to be able to make sense of it all. Thank goodness for the invention of apps, wearables, etc to make our fitness tracking much easier. Samsung and global health service company Cigna have teamed up to bring you a new health and fitness app called Coach By Cigna.

Through a series of detailed questions (which you obviously have to answer honestly), the app determines what type of personality you have (Planner, Day Dreamer, Explorer) as well as your aptitude level when it comes to discipline and health, so that it will determine what kind of “push” to give you in order to help you reach your goals. It focuses on five areas: nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress, and weight management. You’ll get video tutorials, plans and even actual support from health coaches.

You’ll have the freedom to choose from among the recommended programs and of course personalize most things, including your health goals. It will not “force” you to do things that you did not choose to include in the program. This app will actually complement the S-Health app of Samsung devices which is a good over-all management tool for tracking, managing, and improving your health as well. With the help of your Samsung Galaxy and/or Gear devices, you’ll be more accurate in tracking your health stats because of the built-in sensors for heart rate and oxygen saturation.

Sadly, if you’re not a Samsung fanboy, this app is obviously not for you. It is only compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, and Note Edge. You also need to be upgraded to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop. If you fit all those requirements, you can download Coach By Cigna for free on the Google Play Store.
