We have a feeling that more rumors, leaks, and renders of the upcoming Galaxy S7 will be published in the coming weeks and months. We’ve been saying it might arrive earlier than scheduled and it looks like the model will be ready by February. That’s early for the tech giant but we’ve been getting information earlier than usual too. We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve featured the Galaxy S7 but we’re not stopping anytime soon.
uSwitch Tech shared a bunch of photos of what’s believed to be the Galaxy S7 Plus. The images are from @OnLeaks who is Steve Hemmerstoffer in real life. According to this reliable source, he got it from another trustworthy source–a third-party accessory maker. These images are actually based on blueprints supplied by Samsung to those accessory manufacturers.
Let’s take a look at them:
Phone definitely looks like a Galaxy phone. Design doesn’t deviate from the familiar Galaxy series but it’s certainly large with a 6-inch screen and with a more rounded metal frame. This set of renders is particularly for the Galaxy S7 Plus which we can now consider a phablet. Rumor has it that dimensions will be 163.4 m x 82 mm x 7.82mm.
uSwitch mentioned a lot of details about this Galaxy S7 Plus so we know it will have a micro-USB slot, probably a Type-C USB port, front-facing camera now found on the left of the front panel, SIM tray was moved, and still no microSD card slot. We heard of a possibility of a pressure-sensitive screen (maybe Force Touch), 4K Ultra HD display, 16MP or 12MP main camera, and as we’ve been repeating, will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon apart from Exynos.
As for the pricing, we’re hoping something less expensive than usual. The Galaxy S6 and the its siblings plus the Note 5 may have sold a few million units but not enough to improve Samsung’s numbers. Samsung should rethink now of lowering the price since they have a lot of Chinese competitors who are rolling out cheap phones with cool specs already.
