Rdio Select

There are numerous music streaming services out there and even before more will be added to the lot, Rdio has introduced a new program called Rdio Select perhaps to keep current subscribers and attract more users. It’s a low-cost subscription program that allows users to download a maximum of 25 new tracks everyday with a $3.99 monthly fee. Downloaded songs can be played offline so you can listen to them even when you’re mobile and there’s no Internet connection.

Rdio Select removes the ads while streaming radio. It’s currently the most affordable option from Rdio and the company aims to target the budget-conscious music lovers and consumers.

Those in the emerging markets and developing countries are also targeted by Rdio. For one, the service is cheaper in India at only 60 rupees ($0.95 cents). To date, it’s the least inexpensive music streaming service in the country. After only its January launch in India, Rdio has proven much in the local streaming music service, even beating Deezer and Spotify.

There are local services in India like Saavn, Gaana, and Dhingana (the latter acquired by Rdio) but Rdio’s new Select service is tempting. With the increasing number of smartphone users in the country, Rdio can still capture a relevant size of the market.

Aside from India and the US, Rdio Select is also offered in Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia. If you want the unlimited streaming plan, you can avail of the Rdio Unlimited service instead which is more expensive at $9.99/month.
