A new billiards Android game is hardly any reason to get all excited – Android pool apps are typically dime-a-dozen. But Pure Pool, originally released for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, now makes its arrival at the Google Play Store – but unfortunately not just for any Android device. Your device has to have what is arguably the best processor and GPU combo known to man at this point – an NVIDIA Tegra K1 chip.
So what’s in Pure Pool that needs all that muscle? If you take a look at the images, you will see that the game is indeed pretty. The gameplay will hardly offer an exciting twist, will it? So it is the visuals that will prove to be biggest draw for this game, hence the Tegra exclusivity. What the game lacks in originality (honestly, cue, ball, pocket, what else is there?) it makes up for in incredible texture resolutions, uber delicious and realistic lighting, and post processing effects like reflections, bloom, and all that jazz.
The Tegra K1 is the only mobile processor that can handle Half-Life 2 and Portal, so that means it probably has the most muscle to bring this game to life. And not just any K1 proc – it’s rumored that even the Tegra K1 processor on the Nexus 9 won’t cut it. This means you have to have an NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet to play the game.
The game is now available via the Google Play Store, and you’ll have to pony up USD$4.99 to get it. Oh the things people go through just to get one visually beautiful pool game app.
